With an ethereal welling of synth and bass, ‘Open Your Mind’ drops into a loose disco groove and elevated by Wright’s breezy yet sermonic vocal. Wright offers, “This song is about opening your mind to a new journey”.

‘Open Your Mind’ became a core part of the Vlossom live set, which the band refined during their four-week residency at Sydney’s Lansdowne Hotel in January 2020. The animated performance of Wright, raising the communal consciousness of the room as he implored the room to open their mind in evangelical style.

Vlossom band member Russell Fitzgibbon led the visual direction for ‘Open Your Mind’ as creative director. Working with fashion and portrait photographer, Rudolf Zverina, they approached the creative from a retro-future space. Fitzgibbon said, “I felt like this photo captured one of the most transcendental expressions which I was always looking for with this song's art. In the style, I wanted to keep it slightly retro-futuristic without being vintage.”

Celebrated by Zan Rowe on Double J’s A-Z of Australian Music and also flagged on Double J’s ‘Ones To Watch’ list of 2022, Vlossom are back in full effect. Wright explains, “We wrote [Open Your Mind] in a state of bliss and happiness, letting music open our minds to the same moment. We hope you can feel the same energy.”
